crockpot followup

Well, there’s no picture. But don’t be fooled. Let me explain myself.

My friend becca called me yesterday at 3:30 in the afternoon. She had left the office early and wanted to meet for a drink. If there’s one thing I’ve found about being unemployed, it’s that you really don’t have an excuse to not go meet people for drinks.  What was I supposed to say, “Oh, so wish I could.  But my couch might run away if I get up.” So clearly, I obliged.

Well, time got away from us and the next thing I knew I was at a Jazz Club at 10:00 still enjoying cocktails.  When we finally made it home at about 10:30 I was exstatic to find that I could smell dinner from the front door. I can now add “you can go out and have one too many cocktails and dinner will still be ready” to the list of reasons I love crockpots.

I served up plates for all of us and it was delicious.  Well, I mean, at least I thought it was delicious.  I would say that it isn’t the prettiest looking meal.  The sauce looks a little coarse and the potatoes were kind of falling apart by the end of it all - this was probably beacuse by the time I had gotten home it had been cooking for 10.5 hours. Long story short, I had forgotten about the pictures until I finished everything. whoops?

But final verdict is that if you’re looking for a comfort meal and you’re not fancy enough to be making your own mushroom sauce from scratch - this wil do the trick. I’ll give it two thumbs up.

Today will bring adventures in banana bread - and turkey burgers involving the sweet potato leftovers.  Stay tuned.
