Sweet Potato Burritos
Ya heard me right. Sweet Potato Burritos.
Quick digression. Jessica was a vegetarian for a brief period of time. I’ll save the story of her vegetarian downfall for a later date and time - but it involved alcohol, late hours and cheeseburgers. Anyway, we learned how to cook without a lot of traditional “protein” in our diet. So, 4 years later, we still don’t often cook...

Soup - always better the second day.
I enjoyed some leftover soup for lunch today - I made it on Wednesday night for Glee (which, by the way, is the best show to ever be made). Two days later, the soup tastes better than it did on Wednesday night.
I don’t have any photos from the cooking, but it’s an awesome recipe, so I wanted to share it. My mom got it from a friend who I believe got it from a newspaper in Denver. I...

Dining with houseguests ...
You may have noticed my absence for the last few days - we’ve just entertained what will likely be our last major houseguest for a bit.
Side Note: If you want to become popular, move to NYC. Nobody was ever chomping at the bit to visit me in Minneapolis, but it’s a whole new story out here. Anyways.
Everytime we have friends in town I hatch this grand plan that we’ll eat-in at least twice...
Summer Soup
If you live in NYC, you know it’s been raining for days on end. Not just a sprinkle here or there, but constant rain for days. I thought I left that stuff behind in Ireland, but apparently not.
On top of that - Jess has been sick with some kind of awful cough and mild fever since yesterday. If it were the middle of winter, it’d be a perfect night for Chicken Noodle Soup. But,...

2 Mustard Chicken
I can’t claim tonight’s recipe to be my own. I found it while poking around the internet - it’s called 2 mustard chicken. Yes, as you may have noticed, we have an obsession with mustard. I can’t explain it. It just is. So here’s the oh so simple recipe:
1/4 cup dijon mustard
2 tablespoons coarse-grained mustard
2 tablespoons honey
4 boneless skinless chicken...

Wilke Philly ...
I can’t claim to have thought this up on my own. We all know what a Philly Cheesesteak is - and chances are we’ve all eaten one. I personally find them to be extra delicious and a combination of 3 of my favorite foods - steak, cheese and mushrooms.
I’m not certain that there’s a specific recipe to follow. I do know that everyone has their own opinion, and it’s...

Saturday Slideshow
Yesterday was a little rough.
Friday night got a little crazy after we enjoyed our very lovely Wilke Caprese something or the others. Needless to say, I wasn’t able to peel myself off of the couch until late yesterday afternoon.
When I finally did, we went on a roving tour of Chelsea Piers, Meatpacking, West Village and East Village. And ate/drank our way through all of it. Photos to...

Morning Beverage Addictions
Let’s talk morning beverages. We’ve got an obsession with them around here. Coffee, tea, the occasional Diet Coke. I, personally, have an espresso obsession. It started at a young age, and I blame my mother for this. (Just like I blame her for my good looks and shoe addiction). I guess there were other culprits, like Crane Coffee in Omaha. They made these frozen blended coffees...

Banana Bread: Before
I’ve been stockpiling frozen bananas in my fridge for about 6 months now. I’d never made banana bread before, but freezing over-ripe bananas just seemed to be the thing to do. (That’s how boring my life is - I consider freezing bananas trendy). So anyway, last week I decided to take my first stab at banana bread. It didn’t end well. Too many chocolate chips, too much...
crockpot followup
Well, there’s no picture. But don’t be fooled. Let me explain myself.
My friend becca called me yesterday at 3:30 in the afternoon. She had left the office early and wanted to meet for a drink. If there’s one thing I’ve found about being unemployed, it’s that you really don’t have an excuse to not go meet people for drinks. What was I supposed to say,...
crockpots
I never understood crockpots. Growing up, my mom never cooked in them. To me, they were merely vessels that carried cheesy nacho dip, lil smokies, and Swedish meatballs. I never imagined cooking a real meal in a crockpot.
I actually think I judged people that cooked with crockpots. I considered them to be too lazy to actually stand in the kitchen and cook a meal. But I’ve had a change...
why?
So I’m starting my own food blog. And by food blog, I mean intermittment posting of things that I attempt to cook.
Not beacuse I consider myself to be a good cook. Not beacuse I want to show off. Not because I cook with really fancy ingredients and consier myself a “foodie” (i’m eating oreos as we speak). Mostly because I’m bored, and I spend the majority of my...
